Data management for multi-stakeholders and inter-domain knowledge sharing

Abstract
Collaborative logistics relies on information held by many different organisations, such as shippers, carriers, infrastructure managers and public authorities. These organisations use their own systems, terminology and working practices to manage data about transport services, warehouses, vehicle fleets, regulations and operational constraints. As a result, sharing and interpreting information across organisational boundaries remains difficult.
This PhD investigates how these different sources of information can be connected and made easier to understand and use. The research aims to support more reliable information sharing between logistics stakeholders, improve visibility across operations and facilitate collaboration and joint decision-making.
The research focuses specifically on data integration across heterogeneous and independently managed information systems. It draws on knowledge representation, Semantic Web technologies, ontology engineering and knowledge graphs to connect and interpret distributed logistics data. It also examines semantic mappings, federated querying, data provenance, data quality and constraint-based validation to determine whether information retrieved from different sources is sufficiently reliable, traceable and contextually appropriate for operational use.

Mohammed Younes is a PhD researcher, his dissertation is part of the « Multimodal Collaborative Eco-friendly Logistics » research project (ACME-PEPR MOBIDEC) within École nationale des ponts et chaussées – Institut Polytechnique de Paris.
