By air

Paris is deserved by three international airports :

  • Beauvais (BVS), specialized in charter and low cost flights

By train

Paris has different major railway stations:

  • Gare de Lyon (Italy, Spain, southern Europe)
  • Gare de l’Est, gare du Nord and Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy (Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, northern and eastern Europe)

Tickets can be booked from SNCF, Thalys or Eurostar.

By car

From the A4 motorway, take the Champs-sur-Marne exit, then follow the Cité Descartes signs. See a map here.

By public transportation

Cité Descartes is on the RER A rapid transit line. All practical informations about the Paris Area public transportation network are available from www.ratp.fr.

Other travel information

VISA and passport

For citizens of European Union countries, the only requirement to enter and circulate in France is a valid identity card. Anyway, we recommand a passport for citizens coming from outside the Shengen Area. For citizens from a country that is not part the European Union, a passport is mandatory. Depending on the nationality, a VISA may be required. In this case, participants should apply to the French consulate in their country and fill in an application for short-stay visa (3 months), business trip purpose.
