BUFTOD 2012 is an international scientific and operational conference on TOD. The conference was held on april 16th and 17th

The BUFTOD conference is a dedicated arena for the debate on TOD, allowing the crossing of scientific disciplines and the associated approaches, exchanging on cases studies at the international level (in Europe, Americas, Asia ...). The BUFTOD 2012 conference explored the role of rail and other transport modes in transit oriented development and the connection with spatial development at the urban and regional scales.

LOCATION : The conference was held in the premises of the ENPC on the Marne-la-Vallée site near the RER train station Noisy-Champs. An access map can be found here (in french), and here (in english)

The plenary session on monday 16th April 2012 was organised around a series of keynote speeches with :

• Robert Cervero : University of California at Berkeley "A Panorama of TOD Principles & Experiences "

• Claude Soulas : IFSTTAR-GRETTIA, "Evolution of he different transport modes to be taken into account for TOD, and combination with intermodality"

• Fernando Lozada Islas : Universidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez "TOD & Smart Growth. A look at the Latin American experience"

• Gebhard Wulfhorst : Technische Universität München and Alain L’Hostis IFSTTAR-LVMT "The Bahn.Ville approach of an urbanism oriented towards rail and intermodality, key findings of the French-German cooperation"
